Valentine's Day Treat Bags and Table

These are the Valentine's treatbags for my son's class. They say, "A Tweet Treat for you on Valentine's Day". The digital scrapbooking kit is from Shabby Princess and is called "Yours Truly".

I am so ready for Valentine's Day! The house looked all hum-drum after I took the Christmas decor away, so I decorated the table for Valentine's Day and now it looks all pretty and special again.
Come on February!
Now... want to have some fun??? Here is a whole list of blogs to visit! I am participating in Friday Follow... only I'm posting this on Saturday because I'm just now getting a moment to sit and figure it all out. I added my blog to the Mr. Linky yesterday. The blog hop is closed today, but you can still visit all of these fun blogs. Don't forget to leave a comment for these talented people! Everyone loves comments. Enjoy the party!

Sew a Flirty Valentine's Day Apron

I felt like doing some sewing today, so I worked on an apron using some fabric that I had in my stash. I LOVE this toile and I'm into ticking for some reason right now. I bought this one in red! My fav!

Anyway, here's the apron and I'm thinking I may do a tutorial showing how to make it. It really isn't very hard and I made it in about 2 hours. Quicky, easy and flirty... What more can you ask for in a sewing project?
Here it is tied to my bannister. LOL! I REALLY need a mannequin.

It's all in the details. Love these little ball fringie things!

Have a great day!

Trash to Treasure Thriftstore Find Part Two

If you're a follower of my blog, you remember that I made a purse from some thrift store finds. Some wool material and a white cotton sweater. Here it is to remind you. After having carried it a few times, I'm disappointed that I didn't put some fusible fleece in the purse to make the sides a bit sturdy. It is a bit floppy for my taste.

There were still some material and sweater parts left over, so what did I do with them you ask?
{I know you were wondering...}

Tonight, I took the leftovers and chopped them into a bunch of squares.

and turned them into a scarf to match the bag. Cute model, no? {The scarf is for me, not him.}
I put a magnetic catch behind the vintage buttons to connect the two ends while it is on. Can't wait to wear it!

Trash to Treasure Thriftstore Find

Today, while shopping at a thrift store, I found some pretty wool fabric and an off white, cotton cable knit sweater. The fabric looked like it would be perfect as a skirt with the sweater, but, alas, the sweater was too small for me and there wasn't enough fabric to fit around my big ol' butt! I brought it home anyway thinking I could do SOMETHING with it.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the sweater before I got started, but you will get the idea. It had a high collar on it, but otherwise it was just a cable knit. Here's part of the sweater cut up and the fabric. Pretty as an outfit, don't you think? So, I paid $.50 for the fabric and $2.25 for the sweater.

As soon as I got it home, I knew what I wanted to do with it. I decided to make a sweater-lined purse with it. I love the wintery feel of it and can't wait to carry it. I used the sweater body to make the lining. I used the bottom of the sweater as the top of the bag. That way, I didn't have to worry about finishing edges so that the sweater wouldn't unravel where I cut it.
The pockets inside are made with the neck of the sweater.
Tune in tomorrow night to see what I do with the rest of the fabric and sweater pieces!
I've posted this over at Kimm's wonderful blog called "Reinvented"... if you get a chance, you have to go check it out. She does lots of crafting from FOUND objects!

My Adorable Niece

I'm a Winner! Are you?

Have you ever seen blogs that are dedicated to trying products and reviewing them? They are pretty awesome! They tell you about a product that they have reviewed and then usually have a giveaway at the end. Well, I won TWO giveaways over the Christmas break!

The first giveaway I won was from a site called Honest & Truly Reviews. I won 4 movie passes and a coupon for a free box of cereal! Right now she's having a give away Aloutette cheese! Head over and check her out. Be sure to enter. It is really easy. Just leave a comment at the bottom of her post about your favorite cheese!
The second thing I won was a givaway at an online store called Spalibrations. I won a $25 gift certificate to her store! How cool is that? I, just today, recieved my products. I got her hand candies. They smell SOOO great! Especially the bubble gum one which has a fragrance called Yum Yum. My boys thought it was the best scent too. I had to open each one and smell it, so they don't look quite as pretty now as they did, but check these out. Aren't they cute?

Better, is how your hands feel and smell after you use them! You are directed to crumble them and wash with them. I crumbled about 1/3 of one and used it. OH YUM! My hands feel so soft! And they smell even better! I used the Key Lime Pie one. All of my boys (including my husband) said they smell great. Am I lucky or what? Especially in this horrible winter weather where my hands feel like sandpaper! Not anymore.
