I Was A Guest in the Audience of Martha Stewart's Show Yesterday!

How much fun we had!!!  My good (even better now!) friend Janet got tickets to  Martha and invited ME to go.  It was so interesting and so fun.  We stood in line, outside, from 11:30 until 2:30.  We didn't have to, but we arrived early and wanted to be up close and personal, so we got in line early.  We were numbers 3 and 4 and sat in the front row!  Whew hoo!

Why are some of my photos turning???  GRRR!  They are perfectly upright in Paintshop Pro... but they turn sideways in Blogger.  Anyone?

Okay... well, put your right ear on your right shoulder and you will see the awning above Martha's Studio
on 26th Street.  Love the colors!

So, there are a few funny (?) stories about our day. We got there very early, so we could get good seats.  We were SOOOO excited to see that we were in the front row and could check out the kitchen up-close and we were almost bouncing up and down like little kids.  Then Martha came in and we saw her for about 1 second and the cameras ALL pulled in directly in front of us!  The cue card people, everyone was standing in front of us on the floor!  We had to watch the show on a monitor above her.  We just looked at each other and laughed.  Anyway, we watched the cooking segment on tv, but then they moved to the craftroom and we could see that better.

Also, you know me and my cameras, right?  I love taking pictures with my new camera, but I figured I would be walking all around NY City, so I didn't want to carry a large camera and decided on my little point-and-shoot instead.  Unfortunately, my new memory card wouldn't work in my camera, but I didn't know until I got there, so I ended up taking pictures with my phone.  Boooo!!!

Here is the kitchen as we saw it.  So pretty!

The table you see is where the craftroom is and we could see that really well because the cameras were not in our way.

The next segment was here RIGHT directly in front of us and the cameras were off to the side and behind us. Martha, nicely, answered some audience questions.  Most people just wanted to know HOW she does it ALL.

The other story, that sounds really petty, but there was a show taped before ours and the audience came out before us with a cute "Martha" shopping bag with a calendar and a juicer/blender in it.  We were very excited to see what we would get.  I know they don't have to even do anything, but it was still exciting.  So, we ended up getting a Carbon Monoxide/Smoke Detector from Lowes... and no bag.  It was just handed to us, so we had to carry them around the city all day... not even in a bag.  Unfortunately, we both have our houses, hard-wired with smoke detectors, etc.  Oh well, it is the thought, right?  LOL!

I'd do it again.  It really was fun.  Oh... and we walked over to 22nd Street to an awesome cake decorating shop where I got some awesome stuff!   I got THESE... Ninjabread Men cookie cutters.  Can't wait to make them for my boys!  Hee hee!  I linked the picture with a place you can get them online if you are interested.. .just click on the picture and it will take you there.

One More Week!

Can you believe we are still in school in NY....  Until the 24th!?!  I'm so looking forward to my kids being home.

Lots of fun things are going on today.  I made some teacher cards for the end of the school year.  I had to get those done.... you can see them on my cardmaking blog if you'd like.  I also repainted the poolhouse floor.  It may have been a big fat mistake painting it white, but it does look SO nice.  It is also really easy to paint.  Just dump the paint from the can, onto the concrete floor and roll.  It really only takes about 10 minutes.  I bought special paint with sand it so that it isn't slippery.  I also had to repaint part of one of the walls.  We had carpenter ants eating the wall, so dear husband replaced the wall and killed the ants.  They sure make a mess!  Isn't the white floor cute though?  I hand painted the mats for each room.

This is the girls' changing room....
And this is the boys' changing room...
And this is what is in the middle... lots of shelves for storage.

Also today....
My friend Janet, whom I have coffee with most mornings, made the most delicious strawberry jam and gave us a jar.  The boys were so excited and each had two pieces of bread with homemade jam on it after school today.  They told me to take it easy so they would have some for their lunches tomorrow.  Yummy!!!
{Thank you, Janet!!!}

More fun today....

Today I recieved my pretty prize I won a few weeks ago on Tatertots and Jello!  The prize was made by Boppy by Design!  She made them in whichever colors I liked, so I'm so excited to have them!  Check this out!  This is the belt I got.  It doesn't look good with the outfit I have on, so I just took a picture on the counter.  Cute!  The front has 4 fabric flowers and it ties in the back.  Really cute and I have the perfect skirt to wear with it.

This is a terrible picture that I took with my webcam, but you'll get the idea.  I won this adorable crocheted headband also from Boppy By Design!  Love it.  It might be a bit young for me, so my little niece, Ella, might get it.  She would be adorable in it!  {Maybe I should have smiled? Why is it so hard to take a picture of yourself??? }
Hope you had a great day too!

Doin' a Happy Dance!

I won a blog give-away today and I'm dancin'!  Check it out.  I get to pick out a yard of free fabric from Sew,Mama,Sew!   Decisions, decisions!

I am done with 4 of 6 quilted placemats which will match my table runner I made.  The backs match the "stripes" on the table runner.  Each placemat is a different color/pattern.

I'm a Winner! Are you?

Have you ever seen blogs that are dedicated to trying products and reviewing them? They are pretty awesome! They tell you about a product that they have reviewed and then usually have a giveaway at the end. Well, I won TWO giveaways over the Christmas break!

The first giveaway I won was from a site called Honest & Truly Reviews. I won 4 movie passes and a coupon for a free box of cereal! Right now she's having a give away Aloutette cheese! Head over and check her out. Be sure to enter. It is really easy. Just leave a comment at the bottom of her post about your favorite cheese!
The second thing I won was a givaway at an online store called Spalibrations. I won a $25 gift certificate to her store! How cool is that? I, just today, recieved my products. I got her hand candies. They smell SOOO great! Especially the bubble gum one which has a fragrance called Yum Yum. My boys thought it was the best scent too. I had to open each one and smell it, so they don't look quite as pretty now as they did, but check these out. Aren't they cute?

Better, is how your hands feel and smell after you use them! You are directed to crumble them and wash with them. I crumbled about 1/3 of one and used it. OH YUM! My hands feel so soft! And they smell even better! I used the Key Lime Pie one. All of my boys (including my husband) said they smell great. Am I lucky or what? Especially in this horrible winter weather where my hands feel like sandpaper! Not anymore.

I Won a Giveaway!

You all won't believe the CUTE package I got in the mail yesterday! I won an adorable necklace on Atlanta's site called Life(ish). She's a really fun mom and she's got a wonderful blog and a great affinity for cupcakes... and, get this, I won one of her giveaways! She made this cute little necklace and I have it in my hot little hands right now. It is really super cute! Thanks, Atlanta!

Look at that cupcake ribbon. How cute with that look on a handmade card or on a scrapbook page?

Whew Hoo! I Won!

I had so much fun participating in the giveaway at Sew Mama Sew. I think I commented on about 100 different AWESOME blogs. It was really neat to see so many people with blogs about things that I'm so interested in. I got tons of ideas and had fun leaving comments and LOVE for all of those creative projects people have taken the time to make. So, thanks to those at Sew Mama Sew. It was really fun!

Here's what I won! It was handmade by Noelle at The HomeEc Teacher's Daughter and is it ever beautiful and oh so soft! V. has decided that he really likes this blanket and that he should have it for his bed. I was going to give it to my new baby niece, Ella. It's a good thing she's only tiny. She won't know that it was promised to her. I'm sure V. will get over it and it will go to her before long.

There are some really cute items for sale at Noelle's Etsy shop too, so you should check them out. Maybe you can find a cute present to send to me! :-P

Mama's Prides....
This week we've had two 100 Book Challenge ceremonies and both boys were at the top of their classes with their reading. G. (3rd) hit 1000 and V. (in K) hit 900 steps. There were only 3 or 4 kids who got that far. Also, G. presented his storytelling for all of the parents of the kids in his class and he did such a great job! I was so proud. Here's a picture of us in his classroom and one of him on stage with his classmates getting their 1000 awards.

Look how tall he's getting!

And here is V. doing his parade around the auditorium after getting his 900 award.

I also made a purse today. It's a little different than any I've made before. I just sort of created it without a pattern, so I'm not sure if it is going to be okay or not. LOL! I think it is cute though. The porcelain portrait pin is Victorian (circa 1890) and I found it a few days ago at Salvation Army for all of 25 cents!
There is one like it selling on Ebay right now. If anyone wants to watch it with me, it is HERE.
The one on ebay has the gold frame around it but mine does not. Theirs has a whole lot of scratches on it and mine doesn't have any.

Have a great day!

Blog Candy Win

I won! How cool is that? I won the blog candy on The LemonDrop Tree. This girl can craft! You have to go check out her blog. She makes these cute little chipboard, epoxyed buttons and sells them in her Etsy Shop. They are so shiny and brightly colored. I have them in my hot little hands, so I can vouch for them! They are great for paper crafters! She is also making magnets now too I see!

These are the wobbly buttons. Aren't they cute? They're hand drawn!

These are the Flower Bites. Great for cardmaking and scrapbooking. I love the little bit of bling in the centers of the flowers. Glitter, of course!
