Easter Plates and Snot-Nosed Kids

It has been a whole week of kids with colds, coughs and sneezes. It has been a whole week of the same with me.  I think they caught it from me.  Stinks....  Blech!

So, tell me, did you ever see this look on the face of your child when you serve them a meal?  I haven't...  Not my child!  Not my meal!

Ok, but it was St. Patrick's Day, so I thought I'd get clever and make some mashed potatoes with GREEN gravy.  Of course, I only had NEON GREEN food coloring in my drawer, so I used it.  But come on... How cute is it that it matches the plate???  Too bad he thought it looked like NUCLEAR WASTE!

I made it up to him with Lucky Charm cupcakes to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  {Oh yeah, forget that we are not Irish}  We celebrate it anyway!

So, I found these Easter paper plates at my dollar store the other day and thought they were so cute, so I added them to the plates to make my table Easter-y.  I have done more to the table, but I am making something for it {I think!}, so I will show you when I'm done.  Sorry... you'll just have to wait.  I can tell you are waiting with bated breath!
These napkin holders are actually real vases that hold water and these are real flowers.  So pretty!

Oh... and one more thing.... on my pretty Easter table, is this.....
You see that correctly.... camoflauge napkins. Ya....  My boys picked them out.  Lovely, don't you think?  Ha!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, Everyone!
We started our morning with the Easter Bunny trail. The Easter baskets are waiting outside of each boy's door and a trail goes throughout the house with small toys and candy awaiting around each corner and piece of furniture.

I played with the photos in PSP to add some cool effects.

These pictures are from yesterday. We went to an Easter Egg Hunt and the on to get some Greek food at our favorite restaurant! Both boys were being very silly, so I have some great silly photos. Love this one! So little BOY!

Here's G. on Easter. His face says it all. He really didn't want to wear his jacket, but I figure he's got to wear it now because it won't fit him next time he puts it on. So, I told him he looked like a secret spy and that's all it took. He wore it the whole day.
Hope you had a great Easter!

Crazy Easter Hats & Eggs

We got our eggs decorated. Look how cool these turned out! First V. did the traditional eggs and G. did the spin eggs and then they switched places half way through. I love the way they turned out! I found this egg plate at Salvation Army a few months ago. I almost forgot about it!

These are the cupcake papers I made for Valentine's Day. we needed more places to sit the eggs, so I grabbed them and stapled them smaller so they fit the eggs. This plate is also from S.A. (imagine that!)
The boys had some little cotton swabs that had paint in them (for decorating eggs) and this is what they did with them. They are monsters (most of them).
Here is G. spinning the eggs in our egg spinner. Pressing really hard!
And here is V. making traditional eggs.

Now for the crazy hats....
My MIL and I were complaining that nobody dresses up for Easter anymore. She said it was so fun to go and get your new hat for Easter. So, I said we should wear our hats for Easter. She said, "But I don't have one." So I said, "Well, get one or make one!"

We then decided that EVERYONE should have to wear a hat and make a crazy hat. So, we're making them today. The kids and I have ours done, but J. isn't done yet.

Here they are....

Good Friday Projects

Yeah, no school today!

Today's project included these little egg shell vases for the Easter table. I used Martha's idea of decoupaging the egg shell with paper napkins. I love the napkins I have so much that I don't want to use them, so this is a way to make them last. I decoupaged the napkin to the egg shell and then sprinkled glitter all over them. They turned out pretty cute! One thing to note, while using a Dremel tool to cut the tops off, watch out! The egg white gets on that little saw blade and is thrown all over the place! I had it all over the side of my cabinet.

I have done something else with the napkins too. It isn't done yet, so I'll have to show it to you tomorrow.

Here is my Easter card from V. Isn't it sweet? His Kindergarten writing is so cute. The bunny on the front is made with his thumbprint and the ears are made with the side of his thumb. Awwwe! Better yet, is the bunny on the inside. It is SO Kindergarten!

This morning, I took and hour and whipped up a coffee cozy to go with the apron I made. I love how it turned out! There is a ruffle around the top with a row of silk flowers just under the ruffle and then rickrack in the middle between the two fabrics. Then it is tied up with a silk ribbon so that it can be adjusted to accomodate the size of a bigger cup.

Next is the apothocary jar I got at Michaels the other day. I love it. I think it will be really versitile because it looks like a gumball machine or fish jar, etc. Love the pastel colored M&M's that are out right now.
J. brought me flowers this morning. I called him to see if he would pick up some flowers to go in my new egg shell vases and he was already on his way home from the store. I told him what I had wanted and he laughed because he had already gotten me some! How weird is that?
I also put some in the little vase napkin rings that I have on my kitchen table. Here's what they look like. I love these dishes I got at Salvation Army for $.99 each! I got a set of 4.

Here's the little nest that I also got at Michaels. Nothing says Spring like eggs in nests!

Here's a clue as to what we will be doing tomorrow. Can you guess what it is???
Happy Weekend!
